How it all Began.
On behalf of Abram Sheet Metal Inc. I would like to welcome you to our Web Site. Let me just take a few minutes to tell you about our company, our history and what we have to offer to you the consumer.
First of all our company began operation in 1924 when my grandfather immigrated from 'Leeds' in England. Upon arrival in Canada my grandfather, Arthur Abram, began work as a "tinker" or "tinsmith" as they were called in years gone by. He repaired milk cans, tin pails as well as a variety of other things prevalent to that day.
From that point he moved into "gravity" style coal furnaces which were used to heat homes during that period. At that time gravity furnaces were considered "state of the art" as people then relied on wood stoves and fireplaces to heat with. Gravity furnaces were able to actually deliver heat to every room! We are still today occasionally removing some of these old systems.
The next evolution of the heating system came with the introduction of the "forced" air heating system that most of us are familiar with today. This system used fuels such as Oil, Natural Gas and Electricity to heat air which was forced down ductwork by the use of a fan to distribute heat to each room faster and more efficiently. With the introduction of these systems came the next generation in Russell Abram who was eager to expand Abram Sheet Metal Inc. beyond that of a small residential heating company.
The company expanded into the commercial HVAC industry to become a major competitor in the southwestern Ontario area for all types of heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Along with this expansion came the need for a larger presence in the service and repair industry which resulted in another division of Abram Sheet Metal Inc. known as Abram Refrigeration.
Abram Refrigeration services all types of heating, cooling and ventilating systems as well as commercial style refrigeration equipment seen in grocery stores, restaurants etc. Russell Abram passed away only a few years ago.
The next step is where I come in. My name is Dan Abram. I became involved in Abram Sheet Metal Inc. in the late 1970's and was part of the third generation of family involved in our company. Our company has continued to expand into other markets to include Energy Management Systems, Computer Controlled Comfort Control, High Efficiency Gas Furnaces, Geothermal Heating Systems, Heat Recovery Ventilation Preventative Maintenance Programs, Gas Fireplaces and Indoor Air Quality Control only to name a portion of services available to you the consumer.
Our company still remains a family owned business committed to servicing the needs of the people in the Sarnia area. We currently operate with an employee base of approximately 30 to 35 people including a service department of approximately 7 to 10 Service Mechanics and an installation department of approximately 15 to 20 Sheet Metal Mechanics and Installers.
